Privacy Policy

Effective August 24, 2026

This policy describes how information is handled through the California Handymen website (the “Site”), estimate requests, and automated voice communications when offered.

Information we collect

We may collect information you provide, including your name, telephone number, email address, ZIP code, requested service, project description, communication preferences, consent record, and messages you send to the AI-assisted website chat. Please do not submit Social Security numbers, payment-card information, medical information, account passwords, precise street addresses, or other unnecessary sensitive information through the chat or estimate form.

The chat sends message text to OpenRouter, an AI service provider, to generate a response. OpenRouter and its model providers may process chat text and limited technical metadata on systems outside California or the United States under their own terms. The chat is for general service and scope questions; enter contact details only in the separate estimate-request form.

Our hosting and security providers may automatically process limited technical information such as IP address, browser and device type, request time, requested pages, referring page, and security or error logs. The Site uses Google Analytics to understand visits, traffic sources, and successful estimate requests. Google may process identifiers, device and browser information, approximate location, referral data, and interactions under its own privacy terms. The Site does not claim to sell visitor profiles.

Automated voice receptionist notice

If an automated telephone receptionist is offered, it will identify itself as automated and ask for permission before retained recording or transcription and full intake. The voice provider necessarily processes the initial audio needed to present and handle that disclosure and consent question. Full intake and retained project capture begin only after clear consent. If you decline or do not clearly consent, no further intake occurs, no full voice lead is submitted, and the automated call ends; you may use the Site instead.

After consent, voice intake may collect your name, callback phone number, call or text preference, confirmed ZIP code and service-area result, general location on the property (but not a street address), language preference, project description and diagnostic details, photos or materials availability, safety and licensed/permit-scope flags, urgency, preferred callback window, uncertainty or missing information, consent records, call identifier, and recording or transcript content needed to prepare the request. Before a full lead is submitted, the receptionist asks separately for permission for the team to call or text about that request.

We use voice information to understand and route the requested work, check service area and possible safety or licensed-trade concerns, arrange authorized follow-up, prevent abuse, troubleshoot the service, and maintain necessary operational and consent records. Retell AI provides the phone and browser-based automated voice service and may process audio, transcripts, call metadata, and intake fields to operate the receptionist under its own privacy and security terms. Other AI and telecommunications subprocessors may also support that processing.

Validated voice leads are delivered through Telegram to authorized operational recipients for human review. Relevant hosting, AI, telecommunications, messaging, and security processors may therefore process the information under their terms, including on systems outside California or the United States. Voice information is not sold. It is retained only as long as reasonably necessary for the request and follow-up, consent and operational records, security, disputes, and applicable legal or business obligations; unnecessary data should be minimized rather than kept for a fixed, unconfirmed period.

To decline voice recording or transcription, say no when asked and use the Site instead. To withdraw permission for future calls or texts or ask about voice information, use the privacy-request process in “Your choices and California privacy rights” or the “Contact” section below.

How we use information

  • review the project and determine service-area and scope availability;
  • respond by telephone, text message, or email about the specific request;
  • prepare an estimate, arrange follow-up, and maintain business records;
  • prevent spam, fraud, abuse, and security incidents; and
  • comply with legal obligations and protect legal rights.

Submitting a request does not confirm an appointment or create a service contract. Contact consent collected by the form is for the submitted request and is not an enrollment in unrelated marketing.

How information is disclosed

Information may be processed by vendors that support the Site and communications, including website hosting and Telegram for lead notifications. Telegram or other providers may process data on systems located outside California or the United States under their own terms. Information may also be disclosed to professional advisers, an appropriately qualified service provider when you authorize or request a referral, a successor in a business transaction, or government authorities when required by law. We do not claim to sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Retention

Estimate-request information is kept only for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, manage a potential or completed project, maintain consent and business records, resolve disputes, protect the Site, and satisfy legal, tax, insurance, or accounting obligations. Retention periods may vary by record type and whether work is performed.

Security

Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used to protect submitted information. No internet transmission, messaging service, or storage system is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

Your choices and California privacy rights

You may ask to know about, access, correct, or delete information you submitted, or withdraw permission for future communications about a request, subject to identity verification and applicable legal exceptions. Depending on the operator’s size and data practices, some California statutory rights may not apply. We will not discriminate against a person for making an applicable privacy request.

To make a request, use the estimate form, select “Other project,” and begin the project-details field with “PRIVACY REQUEST.” Include enough information to identify the original request, but do not submit sensitive identity documents through the form. To stop text messages, reply STOP to the applicable conversation; to stop calls or email, state that request in your reply.

Children

The Site is intended for adults requesting property services and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the estimate form.

Third-party links and services

The Site may link to or use services operated by third parties. Their privacy practices are governed by their own notices, not this policy.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Site or data practices change. The effective date above identifies the current published version. Material changes apply prospectively unless law permits otherwise.

Contact

Privacy questions and requests may be submitted using the process in “Your choices and California privacy rights” above. The Site currently accepts privacy correspondence through that request channel.
