Website Terms of Use

Effective August 20, 2026

These terms govern use of the California Handymen website (the “Site”). They are website terms only. Any accepted project must be governed by a separate written estimate, work order, or contract identifying the actual service provider and applicable project terms.

Eligibility and acceptance

You must be at least 18 years old and authorized to request work at the project property. By submitting a request, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge the Privacy Policy.

Estimate requests are not contracts

The Site provides general information and a way to request review of a potential project. A submission is not an offer or acceptance, does not reserve an appointment, authorize entry or work, approve charges, guarantee availability or pricing, or create a contractor-client relationship. Scope, provider identity, qualifications, licensing status when applicable, price, materials, timing, payment terms, warranties, change orders, cancellation rights, permits, and insurance requirements must be confirmed separately in writing before work begins.

Legal scope, licensing, and permits

Advertising disclosure: Not a licensed contractor.

Every request is subject to review under California law. A service category shown on the Site does not mean that every project in that category can be accepted. Work that requires a building permit, a contractor license, a specialty-trade license, or qualifications not held by the accepting provider must not be performed as ordinary handyman work and may be declined or referred.

California’s minor-work exemption is limited and fact-specific. Among other conditions, the aggregate contract price for labor, materials, and all other items must be less than $1,000; the work must be casual, minor, or inconsequential; no building permit may be required; and no employees may be used to perform the work. A larger project may not be divided into smaller parts to avoid licensing requirements. These conditions come from California Business and Professions Code section 7048 and may change. The actual provider must give any legally required license or unlicensed-status disclosure before a project is accepted.

No emergencies or hazardous conditions

Do not use the Site for fire, gas odor or suspected gas leak, electrical arcing, active flooding, structural failure, exposed hazardous materials, medical danger, crime, or another emergency. Call 911, the utility, property management, or an appropriately licensed emergency professional as applicable. Do not enter or remain in an unsafe area while waiting for a response.

Your information and property

You agree to provide accurate project, contact, ownership or authorization, access, and hazard information. Before any visit, disclose known hazards, occupants requiring accommodation, animals, restricted access, utilities, suspected asbestos or lead, and relevant property rules. Do not send sensitive personal or financial information through the Site.

Communications

If you check the consent box and submit a request, you authorize calls, texts, or email reasonably related to that request. Consent is not a condition of purchasing services and does not enroll you in unrelated marketing. Message and data rates may apply. You may withdraw communication consent by replying STOP to an applicable text conversation or by clearly requesting no further calls or email. Withdrawal does not affect communications already made or records required by law.

Images and website content

Project images illustrate service categories and are not proof that a pictured project was completed by the business or that an identical result is available. Site descriptions are general and are not construction, engineering, legal, safety, code-compliance, or other professional advice. Do not rely on the Site instead of an on-site assessment or written project document.

Acceptable use

You may not interfere with Site operation; probe or bypass security; submit malicious code, spam, false requests, or another person’s information without authority; scrape the Site in a disruptive manner; impersonate another person; or use the Site for unlawful activity.

Website availability and disclaimers

The Site is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis to the extent permitted by law. Continuous availability, error-free operation, complete delivery of every submission, or the accuracy of general content is not guaranteed. If you do not receive a direct confirmation, do not assume that a project or appointment has been accepted.

Limitation relating to Site use

To the extent permitted by law, the Site operator is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, or consequential loss arising solely from use of, or inability to use, the Site. This paragraph does not limit liability or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be waived and does not replace the terms of a later written service contract.

Governing law and severability

These website terms are governed by California law, without overriding non-waivable consumer protections. If a provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to the extent permitted by law. No failure to enforce a provision is a waiver.

Changes

These terms may be updated as the Site or business practices change. Changes apply prospectively from the published effective date unless applicable law requires otherwise.
